Initial conversation before you commit to anything

Trauma-related symptoms can show up right after an event or years later, and they don’t always look like what people expect — sometimes it’s hypervigilance, avoidance, or physical tension rather than obvious distress. CalmSity’s trauma-informed providers evaluate what’s actually going on before recommending a path forward.

This doesn't have to keep running the show. Trauma-informed providers are available now.

What a first conversation covers

You’re not required to describe the traumatic event in detail during an intake — your provider will ask what you’re comfortable sharing and build the plan around that, at a pace that works for you. Treatment may include therapy, medication to manage specific symptoms, or both.

Delayed-onset symptoms are normal

If something from years ago is resurfacing now, that’s a recognized pattern, not a sign you’re doing something wrong — it’s still worth bringing to a provider directly.

Common Questions

Do I have to talk about what happened in detail?

No. You share what you're comfortable with, at your own pace — your provider will work with what you give them rather than requiring a full account upfront.

Is trauma-focused therapy available over telehealth?

Yes, many trauma-focused approaches are delivered effectively over video visits.
